Modern Etiquette: Lesson 2 – Let’s Get Physical

I really seemed to throw the front door wide open with our first etiquette lesson. And maybe not even just the front door. All the doors. The back door. The garage door. Hell, even all the windows just wide open, airing out the truth that needs to be heard. If you missed it, check out Lesson 1 of Modern Etiquette. And ladies, please feel free to use it as a reply to any of those pictures you may receive in your future. I got you. While the first post was very, VERY guy focused, I figured our second lesson should encompass both sexes. As much as I’d like to think…

    Modern Etiquette: Lesson 1

Having grown up in the south, I am not a stranger to etiquette. In fact, I even had to participate in cotillion (a sort of finishing school). Those not from the south may find this hard to believe but this class was almost a right of passage that ladies AND gentlemen took. (At least, that’s what our parents told us.) If you are unaware of what this oh-so-dated education consists of, let me fill you in. At the prime age of 13, I was taught the ins and outs of “appropriate” behavior. The curriculum included things from how to properly pour tea and set a table to learning all ballroom…

    Why We Eloped

I guess I should start off by saying we didn’t really elope. The definition of eloping is “running away secretly in order to get married” and we were definitely not secretive about it. It was more a wedding that was just the two of us and no one else.  I know some people are shocked that we didn’t go with the big, over the top, party all night, fairytale wedding because honestly that is me and what I have always wanted. However, once we started planning it was causing me more stress than excitement. All my best friends and family lived 2000 miles away from me and couldn’t do normal…

Fall Down Seven, Stand up Eight

Saturday night I went to see the new Cirque Du Soleil ice show, Crystal, with my friend Christina. It’s not the first time I have seen the stunt defying group and I’m sure it won’t be the last. It was far different than any of their other performances I have seen but nonetheless inspiring. It revolves around a young girl named Crystal and her struggle of not feeling like she fits anywhere. After an argument with her parents she races outside to skate her feelings away when suddenly the ice cracks and she falls into the water. There are many interpretations of what is happening to Crystal during this part.…

    Brush Must Haves

If y’all have not jumped on the Wet Brush bandwagon, you need to. I have been using these brushes for over a year now, and they are life changing. The fact that I can easily brush through my wet hair with a brush and not struggle with a comb is the best. (This is really great too if you have little girls with tender heads!) Even though I have used the original Wet Brush for a while, I just started using their shine brush. (Yes, two brushes.) YALLLLLLL…IT GIVES ME LIFE!!!!!!!!! The Shine Brush is for when your hair is dry but it is just as amazing. The Mongolian Boar…

    The Groundhog Was Right

I very rarely believe that pesky little groundhog when he sees or does not see his shadow. Mostly because I don’t think he has the best track record of being correct. However, this year he has hit the nail on the head with six more weeks of winter. We have had unusually cold temps for this time of year and a few days of freak snow. Spring is WAY more my jam but until then we can at least still get some more sweater wearing days in. This has been my favorite sweater this season and NOT because it is pink, but because of how warm and comfortable it is. So if you’re…

    But First, Cocktails!

Wait, isn’t the quote, “but first, coffee”? *shrug* COCKTAILS ALL AROUND!!!!!! If you know me outside of this blog life, you know that I have a deep love coffee any time of day. And clearly, according to my blog name, I love a good happy hour. And happy hours that involve not just insane amounts of shopping but that have actual alcohol. Ultimately, this usually ends up with me shopping anyway. Every month or so, I am going to highlight a cocktail recipe that I enjoy! First up, I thought I would combine my love of coffee and alcohol. This is a real win for all involved…haha. Make them for…

    Comfy Cozy Winter Vibes

It is officially winter in the PNW!!! I am completely done with fall term and the temperature keeps dropping. When I am not running around Christmas shopping or attending a holiday event, the chances are very high I will be found in the most comfortable attire possible. Hibernation mode: On. I want to be in comfy clothes, wrapped in a blanket, drinking coffee by the fire for the whole winter season. Whiiiiiiiich doesn’t happen but I will take the few lazy days I do get! I am also one of those crazed Christmas fanatics that decorates any and all rooms because, why not? The more the merrier!!!! Almost all my winter bedding…

    Best Time of the Year

CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!! IT’S HERE!! I can finally listen to Christmas music without fear of retaliation from anyone around me. I understand that July is a little early to be filling the world with pure, delightful music. However, I still get slack about it right before Thanksgiving. Y’all. I can’t help it. It is the best time of year! I get to just lay back and relax…. hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Yeah, right. I mean that is what I would love to do but good ol’ adulting gets in the way. I want to do crafts and bake to the sound of the same Hallmark movie storyline that I insist on watching over and over while indubitably crying during some…

    Christmas Gift Ideas

It’s that time of year again where the weather is cooling down, Christmas commercials are in full swing, school is almost out, and the list of people to get gifts for starts to grow daily. There is something so satisfying when you know exactly what someone wants or would love. It kind of makes fighting for that one spot left in the parking lot worth it. (I SAID KIND OF…) However, it never fails that there is at least one person who you have no idea what to get them. Have no fear, my gift ideas are here! Seriously, put down that candle you’re about to re-gift. Don’t do it!!!…
