    Why We Eloped

I guess I should start off by saying we didn’t really elope. The definition of eloping is “running away secretly in order to get married” and we were definitely not secretive about it. It was more a wedding that was just the two of us and no one else.  I know some people are shocked that we didn’t go with the big, over the top, party all night, fairytale wedding because honestly that is me and what I have always wanted. However, once we started planning it was causing me more stress than excitement. All my best friends and family lived 2000 miles away from me and couldn’t do normal…

Fall Down Seven, Stand up Eight

Saturday night I went to see the new Cirque Du Soleil ice show, Crystal, with my friend Christina. It’s not the first time I have seen the stunt defying group and I’m sure it won’t be the last. It was far different than any of their other performances I have seen but nonetheless inspiring. It revolves around a young girl named Crystal and her struggle of not feeling like she fits anywhere. After an argument with her parents she races outside to skate her feelings away when suddenly the ice cracks and she falls into the water. There are many interpretations of what is happening to Crystal during this part.…

    The Groundhog Was Right

I very rarely believe that pesky little groundhog when he sees or does not see his shadow. Mostly because I don’t think he has the best track record of being correct. However, this year he has hit the nail on the head with six more weeks of winter. We have had unusually cold temps for this time of year and a few days of freak snow. Spring is WAY more my jam but until then we can at least still get some more sweater wearing days in. This has been my favorite sweater this season and NOT because it is pink, but because of how warm and comfortable it is. So if you’re…

    Goodbye January!

Well, this first few weeks of school has kicked my butt! I am thanking all things holy for the weekend getaway we had to Cali before school started. Somehow, I saved one of my hardest quarters ever for my last term… and that includes the term I took 20 hours. I had no life because of the sheer amount of work I was doing, but I would take that over this term. 7 weeks left and I’ll be done though. Seven…. Seven…. Seven….. SEVEN!!!! (Friends, anyone??) The winter rain has settled into Portland for what seems like the long haul. I shouldn’t complain too much since we have actually had…

    Organizing the Chaos

A quote I love says, “There are seven days in the week and someday isn’t one of them”. I have no idea who said it. Seriously, Google it… You either find no one said it or 7 different people… it is just one of those mysterious authors. Whoever said it though is a very smart human. We are all guilty at one point or another, putting something off because the timing isn’t right, or like me, you’ll get to it “eventually”. I have found that when I say I will get to it one day, that one day never rolls around. It is a proven fact that you are more apt…

    Cheers to New Years!

Helloooooooooooooooo 2018!!!! There are few things I love more than a new year. It is so refreshing to think about putting your best foot forward and trying to better not just yourself but your life as a whole. I have a good feeling about 2018. As a general goal setter by nature and someone completely addicted to checking off my to-do list, resolutions are my jam. In the past they may have been silly, sometimes unrealistic and if I am being completely honest, there were many years that I did not succeed at any of them. And y’all, that’s okay!!! Just because you tried at something and did not get…

    The Holiday Season Recap

I hope everyone had the BEST time celebrating this holiday season! I was wholeheartedly going to post about all the Christmas festivities that Nathan and I did this year individually….but clearly that did not happen. So, I am just going to cram it into one post and try not to bore the hell out of everyone! We are usually in Disney in December so it was a nice change to be able to do some PNW firsts! Zoo Lights was first up which would have been better if I learned to wear proper footwear! It was one of our coldest nights in Portland and I am walking around the Zoo in Toms….…

    Be Thankful

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with loved ones whether it was celebrated on Thursday or any day after. Thanksgiving is not my favorite holiday (we all know that is reserved for Christmas) but it is definitely a close second. It is a day where it is openly accepted, even expected to shove as much home cooked food into your face in one sitting. (Let’s all give thanks for the invention of yoga pants!) I love the sounds of the day too; People in the kitchen cooking, football on with a minimum of one person getting mad about a bad call, talk of the Black Friday sales and so much laughter. The sounds and smells…

    A Little Life Update

Hey everyone!! This week finally brings the blog post of a life update! I know, get excited!! The real question is how am I going to update everyone on the last six months without it being a complete snooze-fest, amiright? I could do it pretty efficiently by just stating one word: school. I will go into a little more detail than that though. In the last six months, I finished a spring term of 20 hours, a summer term of 18 hours and I’m currently sooooo close to finishing my 16 hour fall term. I am exhausted just typing that all out. The most exciting news of all this is while maintaining…

    Today is Your Day

I used to believe that you could only be considered a mother once you had your own children. What a ridiculous thing to think. There are so many amazing women I know who are mothers in every way possible. There are the traditional moms who did get to carry and deliver their own babies. Some women in this group put in a lot of blood, sweat and tears to make this happen and others were lucky enough for it to happen naturally and without problems. You all deserve this day for all the hard work that goes into raising a family. (Especially all you single moms out there. Y’all are all superheros in…
