    Why We Eloped

I guess I should start off by saying we didn’t really elope. The definition of eloping is “running away secretly in order to get married” and we were definitely not secretive about it. It was more a wedding that was just the two of us and no one else.  I know some people are shocked that we didn’t go with the big, over the top, party all night, fairytale wedding because honestly that is me and what I have always wanted. However, once we started planning it was causing me more stress than excitement. All my best friends and family lived 2000 miles away from me and couldn’t do normal…

    All About That Skincare Life

Skincare has always been a part of my life. I grew up in a southern house that made it very clear, eye cream was just as important as our nightly prayers. However, my knowledge and want for great skin eventually succumbed to the lethargic college years. You know– the never washing or even thinking about a moisturizer anymore because I am doing good to make it to my 8am class. There were many a morning I woke up with smeared mascara and what makeup I had left on my face… real classy. In the morning, I would “clean” my skin by running a cotton pad and toner over my face…

    Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Review

Happy Tuesday, friends! Thank you for all the sweet words from last weeks more personal post. If you missed it, you can check it out here. Now back to our regularly scheduled posts of makeup and fashion! When I find a makeup product I love, I usually get in a little rut. It’s all I will wear without even looking for others that could possibly be better than what I am using. Why mess with a good thing, amiright? Luckily, a couple weeks ago I received Laura Mercier’s new Flawless Fusion foundation and concealer to try out. When I get PR packages or free products in the mail I always…

Fall Down Seven, Stand up Eight

Saturday night I went to see the new Cirque Du Soleil ice show, Crystal, with my friend Christina. It’s not the first time I have seen the stunt defying group and I’m sure it won’t be the last. It was far different than any of their other performances I have seen but nonetheless inspiring. It revolves around a young girl named Crystal and her struggle of not feeling like she fits anywhere. After an argument with her parents she races outside to skate her feelings away when suddenly the ice cracks and she falls into the water. There are many interpretations of what is happening to Crystal during this part.…

    Somebunny Loves You

Happy Easter, everyone!!!   I always say that fall is my favorite season until spring rolls around and I start to second guess myself. I am all for chilly, sunshine weather that you can be in with just a cardigan. After all, April does have the perfect date. (Anyone know what movie I am talking about?!) Not much to report except that I GRADUATED!!!!!!!!! I finally finished! (WHERE ARE MY CONFETTI CANNONS?!) I will save my thoughts on all that for a different post. Since taking my last final, I have been in a mix of celebrating and relaxation. Sleeping in has never felt so good. I really don’t think…

    Brush Must Haves

If y’all have not jumped on the Wet Brush bandwagon, you need to. I have been using these brushes for over a year now, and they are life changing. The fact that I can easily brush through my wet hair with a brush and not struggle with a comb is the best. (This is really great too if you have little girls with tender heads!) Even though I have used the original Wet Brush for a while, I just started using their shine brush. (Yes, two brushes.) YALLLLLLL…IT GIVES ME LIFE!!!!!!!!! The Shine Brush is for when your hair is dry but it is just as amazing. The Mongolian Boar…

    The Groundhog Was Right

I very rarely believe that pesky little groundhog when he sees or does not see his shadow. Mostly because I don’t think he has the best track record of being correct. However, this year he has hit the nail on the head with six more weeks of winter. We have had unusually cold temps for this time of year and a few days of freak snow. Spring is WAY more my jam but until then we can at least still get some more sweater wearing days in. This has been my favorite sweater this season and NOT because it is pink, but because of how warm and comfortable it is. So if you’re…

    Carry On Essentials!

If the last five years have taught me anything, it is that I am an over packer. (And that I wait till the last minute to actually pack….stay up the majority of the night and finally finish with a good hour to sleep!) With how many flights I have been on in those years, you think I would have mastered the art of packing light. Not the case. I may not pack light but I am prepared and pretty cozy for the duration of the flight. I have finally figured out my 12 go to carry on essentials. I technically bring more than just these 12 items, BUT these are my…

    Goodbye January!

Well, this first few weeks of school has kicked my butt! I am thanking all things holy for the weekend getaway we had to Cali before school started. Somehow, I saved one of my hardest quarters ever for my last term… and that includes the term I took 20 hours. I had no life because of the sheer amount of work I was doing, but I would take that over this term. 7 weeks left and I’ll be done though. Seven…. Seven…. Seven….. SEVEN!!!! (Friends, anyone??) The winter rain has settled into Portland for what seems like the long haul. I shouldn’t complain too much since we have actually had…

    Organizing the Chaos

A quote I love says, “There are seven days in the week and someday isn’t one of them”. I have no idea who said it. Seriously, Google it… You either find no one said it or 7 different people… it is just one of those mysterious authors. Whoever said it though is a very smart human. We are all guilty at one point or another, putting something off because the timing isn’t right, or like me, you’ll get to it “eventually”. I have found that when I say I will get to it one day, that one day never rolls around. It is a proven fact that you are more apt…
